Vermiculture is the raising and production of
earthworms and their by-products. Some would consider Vermiculture a 4-syllable word
for poop!

Worm casts can be applied around a plant's drip line; mixed directly into the plant's roots, or applied as a mulch, adding valuable nutrients to strenthen the root system, thus making plants grow unbelievably well.

I understand that it is red worms that are best suited for composting organic matter. It is interesting to note that "worm casts" contain not only rich nutrients, but also an ample supply of beneficial microbes necessary for root absorption. Without these microbes, plants would die of starvation. The essential microbes, found in worms and healthy soil, are just as important to human digestive tracts. Without these lowly life-forms, not even our greatest technologies can save us from certain extinction.
